The Brexit camp have created a campaign to bring everyone together to agree that we should join hands to make “Brexit a success”. Like Morris dancers at a funeral, they celebrate their lies to the electorate about what leaving the EU would do for Britain. And now they are quietly withdrawing their “promises” inscribed on the side of their battle-bus promising £350M per week to the NHS, which of course was entirely disingenuous.
Join hands to celebrate the undoing of years to progress? This group and other Brexiteers seem to have formed a cult that attempts to shame people who voted to remain while they trot out their ill-formed ideas about what would “make Britain great”. As a leader in the EU, Britain was great. As a little island asserting a right to an independence (it already had) in an increasingly cooperative world, they are a shrill voice of false promise.
The Brexit camp lack the necessary senses of history, culture and perspective to care about the wider world. All they see is what is in it for themselves. No peception of a wider picture. We could have led Europe into a new enlightenment, a new age of cooperation, shared prosperity and international standing. Not now, we are now seen as small minded greedy pigs who only care about ourselves. The Brexit camp narrowly consider their own view of the world.
“They should all hang their heads in shame. There were many people, particularly in less wealthy areas, who were convinced by Leave’s claim that if we left the EU we would be able to pour millions more into the NHS. The danger now is these people will become even more disillusioned with all politicians because this lot misled them.” Anna Soubry – Open Britain
